    The Vitafoods Startup Innovation Challenge saw over 20 startups shortlisted across three categories, with vegetable collagen being the first Korean finalist and competing in the Most Innovative Nutraceutical Ingredient category.

What is Collagen?

More than 30% of the body's protein is made up of collagen.
It is made up of three spirally intertwined fibres and is a component of many tissues in the body, including skin, bones, digestive system, muscles, tendons, and joints.

Getting enough collagen is essential for maintaining a healthier life.

VC-H1 developed with unique technology

Vegetable Collagen is a proprietary technology developed by professional researchers with 35 years of experience in collagen research that extracts extensin, a glycoprotein in the outer wall of plant cells, into a tripeptide structure, the smallest unit of collagen.


It has been patented as the world's first plant-based collagen substitute food ingredient.

Vegetable Collagen has the same body processes as animal collagen, supplying proteoglucan, the precursor to collagen.


It contains hydroxyproline, a marker of collagen, has an amino acid composition, and is supported by a review of its molecular weight, a key indicator of collagen absorption.

Collagen content measurement

When collagen content was measured after VC-H1® administration, collagen content was found to increase.


Epidermis thickness measurement

As a result of measuring epidermal thickness after VC-H1® administration, it showed excellent reduction results even compared to the fish group.

Collagen is extracted by hydrolysis, and the smallest unit is a tripeptide structure of three amino acids.The individual amino acids that make up the tripeptide must be 100 Da and the tripeptide structure must be at least 300 Da. We hydrolysed the outer cell wall of a plant and made it 363Da, and we have the evidence to prove it.

Differences between common vegetable amino acid combinations and vegetable collagen VC-H1

This is why we say our product is the only plant-based collagen and the biggest difference from other products on the market. I'm sure you've seen plant-based collagen products online and in stores, but they're not real collagen. All other products marketed as plant-based collagen are simply a blend of individual amino acids found in plants. Consuming these individual amino acids does not synthesise them into collagen, and they are more likely to be absorbed as peptides than as free amino acids. It has been shown that intestinal transport of amino acids from many dipeptides and tripeptides is more rapid than from the equivalent amino acid mixtures.
